Our Story
Living in Hanoi between 2019 and 2021, we were fascinated by Vietnam’s coffee culture and its powerful role in bringing people together. Our journey began while working in a local coffee shop, where we gained insights into coffee’s journey – from green beans and roasting, to daily service.
After returning to London, we continued exploring the local coffee scene and noticed that Vietnamese coffee was largely absent from cafés. Despite being the world’s second-largest coffee producer and exporter, Vietnam’s coffee was rarely represented in the specialty market, and the stories of the producers behind it were even less known.
Since returning to Vietnam in 2025, we have spent time working on one of our partner farms, developing a closer understanding of production at origin. This experience continues to shape how we work today — sourcing green coffee, trading, and roasting in small batches at origin.
We see specialty coffee as relationship coffee: shaped by identity, people and process. We focus on building long-term, respectful relationships with producers and partners, working in a way that is collaborative, transparent, and mutually beneficial. Through this, we aim to create a closer connection between origin and cup.
Forty Seven Coffee is an ongoing process — shaped by learning, collaboration, and deeper engagement with coffee at origin.
